Hi Developers.
It maybe, the eve launcher in your opinion is a big step towards eve software maintenance.
In my opinion it's an epic fail due to a missing strategy towards eve gameplay and the way users launch their software.
1. If there is an eve launcher ... the most anoying thing that can happen is:
- An eve launcher, which updates itself and is not capable of restarting itself after updating itself. What the hack?
2. If an eve launcher updates...
... itself, and then it updates eve-online ... why would I need to see a messagebox AFTER THE UPDATE, which informs me about an optional client update?
Would'nt it be clever to integrate optional client updates into the eve launcher? Ain't eve launcher the place for updating eve client?
3. If I click on some Button to start some game...
... I expect the game to start. I would not expect a window to another Button which starts the game.
Unless ... there is a profit in doing so. Currently there is no such profit. It just looks kind of helpless.
Why not add a Combobox for account selection and a password field (maybe even some kind of password manager for multi account players) which then launches eve without prompting me for account and password...
This would be a clear benefit, since i was able to quick switch accounts/characters without having to enter details every time i just restart the client.
4. If I start a game, there is one splash screen...
... eve currently has at least three(!). First: the eve launcher. Second: the eve splash screen.Third: the eve login screen Fourth: the character selection and gift redemption screen.
Clickfest!!! And much too complicated - this all could be part of the launcher too!
After all ... and a few months now we have the eve launcher, there still seems to be no real integration of this piece of software. This makes starting eve like batch-calling a software puzzle. Just KISS instead! (Keep It Stupid Simple :-)

Maybe this were some harsh words about the eve launcher. Disregarding the launcher, It's obvious you did a great job during the last months with developing gameplay, fixing locales and enabling mor advanced graphics. Thank you for those efforts. |
